Important Facts
The Redland 49 roof tile is manufactured by Monier (formerly called Redland Roofing) and is constructed from concrete, it has either a smooth or granular coloured finish on it’s surface. It is a popular tile that is most commonly seen in the South of the United Kingdom.
The tile is medium sized and with a slight camber. These tiles interlock and should be laid straight bonded. They can also be used as a hanging tile.
Guarantee Period
The guarantee period for these tiles is 15 years. Considering that they should last in excess of 100 years it is unlikely that a claim will be made and it is a little disappointing that the guarantee period isn’t a little longer.
The guarantee period may be short but Monier cannot be faulted for how comprehensive the policy is. They will replace faulty tiles and pay for the labour costs as well. They even cover the costs of ancillary products and the guarantee is transferable to new homeowners.
Fitting Instructions
For the guarantee to be effective, the installer must follow the fitting instructions for the Redland 49 Tile. This will vary depending on the location of the building (wind zone 1,2 or 3) but in most cases each tile should be clipped or nailed and clipped. That is quite a lot of fixings as many roofers still only fix every few courses rather than every tile.
