About This Tile

The Renown is less popular than it’s smaller version, the Redland 49 but has many similar characteristics such as it’s “square” and low profile. This is one of the sturdiest and toughest tiles made by Monier.

Constructed from concrete this large tile is available in both smooth and granular finishes. There are also several colours to choose from (currently 10) including several through colours.

Fixings and Installation

The Renown should be laid straight bonded and secured with either nails, clips or posi-screws, the exact type of fix will depend on the location and height of the roof (zonal location). For example; roofs in a high altitude location in Scotland would use a posi-screw and a clip instead of a single nail.

Below are the suggested fixings for this tile:

  • 50 x 3mm tile nails (9332)
  • 50 x 3mm ring-shanked tile nails (9351)
  • Standard tile clip (9185) and nails (9333)
  • Verge end clip left hand or right hand (9297)
  • Eave clips (9186) and nail (9332)
  • Left-hand cloak tile clip (9179)
  • 50 x 3mm countersunk Posidrive screws (9357)

Guarantee Period

As with most of Redland’s profile range, this tile comes complete with a 15 year fully transferable guarantee. This covers the quality of tile and Redland will also pay for the labour fees and any other associated costs such as hiring access equipment.

While a 15 year period may sound like a long time, it is worth considering that concrete tiles should last in excess of 100 years if fitted correctly. Also don’t forget that this guarantee is only effective if the installer has laid the tiles in accordance with the technical guidelines set out by Redland for this tile.
