About This Tile
The Regent is arguably Redland’s toughest concrete tile, it is certainly one of the heaviest and is profiled with two deep and distinct channels which gives it a very bold “roll” effect. The tile can be laid on roofs with a pitch as low as 12.5° provided there are no valleys or hips on the roof. This tile even made it into our list of specialist tiles for shallow roofs.
This tile isn’t as popular with roofing contractors as some of the low profiled tiles and is often seen as difficult to stack, lay and cement due to it’s large size.
Cuts are permitted at gable ends provided they are no less than half of a full tile’s width. A filler should also be used at eaves level to prevent bird entry to the loft. This tile is available in smooth and also granular coatings with a choice of colours to suit almost any environment.
Alternatives
There are several tiles that are similar to the Regent, the Grovebury is smaller with more shallow channels but has a similar “roll” feel, an effect that can also be achieved with the Marley Anglia and the Redland Pantile.
Fitting Instructions
The regent must be laid straight bonded and secured to the roof battens with either a clip, a clip and nail or by posi-screw and clip. As with all Redland tiles, the exact fix can be determined by finding the zonal location and altitude of the building.
The following fixings should be used with the Regent tile, note the long nails and screws used with this tile, that’s because of it’s unusually deep roll. The number next to each line is the product code:
- 75 x 3.75mm tile nails (9337)
- 75 x 3.75mm ring-shanked tile nails (9355)
- Tile clip (9246) and nails (9333)
- Verge clip left or right hand (9121/9298)
- Eave clip includes nail (9287)
- Left hand cloak Verge clips for eaves (9179)
- 70 x 4mm countersunk Posidrive screws (9359)
