Upvc plastic fascia and soffits are a low maintenance alternative to timber boards. These plastic products are designed to look aesthetically pleasing, will never rot and do not require painting or repairing like traditional timber.
If they are installed correctly they should last the life of the house. At a minimum you should expect them to last 30 years, most will come with a 10-20 year guarantee.
With over 14 years experience installing these boards, I would like to think I know a thing or two about this profession. I hope you find these pages helpful. Don’t forget that you can leave a comment or two in the comments section at the base of each page.
How to Install These Boards
This isn’t just a great page for DIY enthusiasts but also a helpful resource so you can ensure your tradesman is doing the job correctly. Check out my step by step guide to installing fascias and soffits.
There is even a list of materials I used on a recent project, it can be downloaded and used a template/checklist.
Thinking of capping over (aka overcladding) the original roofline timbers? Find out why I never recommend this practice to my customers!. This page is a great resource and could save you a fortune, if you have been approached by a company wanting to “cap over” the existing boards then this page is a must read.
Costs
To keep things simple I have created an example quotation on this page. You will find a list of all the costs a company has to include when they calculate a quotation. You will see exactly how much a typical roofline company will charge to replace those boards and any possible extras and variations etc. See the example quote here.
Choice of Colours
White is by far the most popular colour but there are a variety of others to choose from including Mahogany, Rosewood, Black Ash and Golden Oak.
These colours are universal so they will match existing window, conservatory or door frames on the property. There is an even greater choice of gutter colours that compliment the roofline fascia and soffits.
Brands, Suppliers and Manufacturers
There are several manufacturers of these boards, Floplast are a one of the most well known and supply to house builders, tradesman and DIY via nationwide stockists. I have used them for the last 8 years and am very happy with the quality of the product.
Swish and Celuform are also well known in this industry but tend to be a little more expensive. Below is a list of the products I have previously used and would be happy to recommend:
- Swish/Summit
- Celuform
- Floplast
- Eurocell
- Deeplas
I have created a list of product specifications for Floplast products here.
What is the Difference Between a Fascia and a Bargeboard?
The answer is not much!
A fascia is the horizontal board that guttering is typically fixed to. Bargeboards are usually fixed to an apex (gable) and never have guttering secured to them. Most Upvc fascia boards and bargeboards are identical and have the same specifications.
This website sells fascia and soffits directly, it is one of many that sell online.
