Below you can find some specifications for the Marley Wessex concrete roof tile.
Size: 420mm X 330mm
Profile depth: 20mm
Minimum pitch: 15°
Maximum pitch: 44°
The Wessex tile is low profiled and minimalistic, designed to blend into any roof without looking obtrusive. This tile manufactured by Marley is favoured by many roofing contractors because it can be laid on roof pitches as low as 15° provided the roof length is not greater than 6 metres and other conditions are first met. This tile made it on to my list of tiles best suited for shallow roofs.
Made from concrete with a smooth finish and with a choice brown or grey colours, this interlocking tile is both unique and simplistic. The unusual shape of the tile does mean that it can be difficult to transport and stack, it also suffers from breakages on the corners, this is usually during transport or rough handling.
While not the most popular tile from the Marley range, the Wessex is one to consider especially if you are working on a low pitch shallow roof.
Fixings
The Wessex is secured into place by way of eaves, tile and verge clips. There are no nail holes pre-drilled into this tile and this is one of the reasons why it can be used at such a low pitch.
Coverage and Battens
Batten centres should not exceed 450mm for 38×25 battens and 600 centres for 50×25 battens.
Each Wessex tile has a linear coverage width of 298mm. 9.7 tiles per sq mtr if laid with a 75mm headlap. 10.4 tiles per sq mtr if laid with 100mm headlap.
