The Marley Mendip is an extremely popular profile that is not unique to this tile. Competitors such as Redland have a similar design. This tile is made from concrete with a choice of seven surface colours with either smooth or granular finishes. The smooth variant can be used on shallow roof pitches, down to a minimum of 15°.
This is popular due to it’s double pantile look and is similar to the competing Redland Grovebury tiles.
Marley Mendip tiles are available in the following colours:
- Antique Brown
- Anthracite
- Dark Red
- Smooth Grey
- Smooth Brown
- Old English Dark Red
- Mosborough Red
Coverage
The tile measures 420mm x 330mm and that gives a nominal width coverage of 298mm.
You can expect to lay 9.7 tiles per square metre if laid with a 75mm headlap. That figure increases to 10.5 tiles per square metre if laid with a 100mm headlap.
Weight
If laid with a 75mm headlap the weight per square metre will be 46kg. If laid with a 100mm headlap expect a weight of 49kg per square metre.
Fixings
Each tile has a pre-drilled fixing hole for a 70mm x 3.35mm tile nail.
Battens should be centred every 450mm for 38mm x 25mm batten and every 600mm for every 50mm x 25mm.
Batten requirements will therefore be 2.9 linear metres for every square metre of roof if laid with a 75mm headlap. 3.1 linear metres of batten per square metre of roof if laid with a 100mm headlap.
