The Double Roman profile is not unique to Marley as there are several other tile manufacturers who have almost identical versions of this tile. It is designed to appear like a traditional roll
tile – a favourite that has been used throughout Europe for several hundred years.
This tile is easy to lay, stack and transport and is extremely popular throughout the United Kingdom.
While this tile does appear to have a “roll” effect it actually has a very low profile with a profile depth of around 20mm.
This tile is available in the following colours:
- Antique Brown
- Greystone
- Smooth Grey
- Old English Dark Red
- Mosborough Red
- Dark Red
- Smooth Brown
Note that there are two surface finishes, either smooth or granular. Smooth is preferred if you laying onto a more shallow pitched roof.
Fixings
There is a single pre-drilled fixing hole on the tip of the centre roll, Marley recommend using a 65mm x 3.35 tile nail. There are also three fixing clips that should be used according to site location and expected wind; eaves clips, general tile clips and verge clips.
Coverage and Batten Specifications
Batten centres should be no further apart than 450mm for 38×25 battens and 650mm for 50×25 battens. Each tile has a laid width (nominal) of 300mm.
If laid with a 75mm headlap coverage will be 9.7 tiles per sq mtr. If laid with a 100mm headlap coverage will be 10.4 tiles per sq mtr.
